Our friend Jason (aka @cancercanuck ) died yesterday, at the conclusion of AYA Awareness week. 🥹 He was very open about his disease, the progression and how it affected him. He was most active on X, but was on all spaces. In Cancerland, we lose friends too frequently, and it never gets easier.

Jason, you were and always will be an inspiration of sharing your story, inviting people in and being a great friend. We will miss you. 💔 This is why we are advocates. So young people stop dying.

We are thrilled to welcome Taryn to our board of directors! 🎉

At the age of 33, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Taryn was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a Registered Psychologist based in Calgary, she has firsthand experience navigating the emotional and psychological complexities of a cancer diagnosis. Currently pursuing her Doctor of Psychology degree, Taryn’s research is focused on evaluating psychosocial support for young women with breast cancer.

Her personal journey and professional expertise make her exceptionally passionate about supporting the AYA population, with a special emphasis on addressing the mental health needs of those whose lives are affected by cancer.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Taryn! 🤝 Her resilience, dedication, and commitment to improving the psychosocial well-being of young cancer patients make her a valuable addition to our team.
